Title – The Role of Optometry in Pre-op Cataract Screening

Short Abstract
This workshop will focus on preliminary measurements before cataract surgery that can easily be carried out by the optometrist. Delegates will be shown and have the opportunity to carry out measurements using a portable keratometer, rebound tonometer and biometry and introduced to intraocular lens calculation. This workshop will also consider ways in which it is possible to carry out these procedures in a more challenging environment with limited technical conditions and the important role of the optometrist with regards to preventable blindness in particular cataract in developing countries.
